Home / Meet Greg
Greg Day is running for the Carlsbad City Council in District 4.
He is a commercial airline pilot with over 20 years of aviation leadership experience in both civil and military aviation. Following his graduation from Georgetown University in 2002, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Government, Greg accepted a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. For the majority of his military career, Greg was as an F/A-18 fighter/attack pilot, stationed at MCAS Miramar and he recently retired as a Marine Reservist at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after over 20 years of active and reserve duty.
Greg does not take the idea of service lightly and he truly understands the commitment it requires, and the sacrifice it demands. During his time as a Marine, he deployed multiple times to regions in the Pacific and the Middle East. For his efforts abroad and at home he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. Greg also deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve. During his time in Iraq he received 6 Air Medals for flying over 100 combat missions in direct support of our Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers.
For the last 18 years, San Diego has been Greg’s home and it has been a wonderful place for him. It is here that he met his wife, Pamela, and they have been happily married for the last 10 years. They put down roots in Carlsbad 9 years ago where they are raising their 10 year-old daughter, Nina, and 8 year-old son, Ronan, along with their puppy, Pepper.
Greg and Pamela are both active in their children’s school and proud members of their church community. Greg enjoys the wonderful environment of Southern California and playing outside. Golf, tennis, the ocean and the beach, are all ways Greg choses to enjoy our perfect weather and share time with his family. Greg also still loves the winter sports he grew up playing in New England- skiing and ice hockey. Sharing these interests with his children and encouraging them as they pursue their own is what makes Greg the happiest.
Carlsbad was the perfect choice for Greg and Pamela to raise their family, and ensuring it continues to remain the perfect place to raise ones family is Greg’s number one priority. Having completed his service to our nation, Greg is now ready and able to begin his service to our city.
